Sharaya Sims is a Rockford native, who is dedicated to mental health needs in her local communities. Ms. Sims earned herBachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies from Fisk University, and Master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. Ms. Sims has provided mental health therapy and related services for seven years, with four of those years being Post-Graduate clinical therapy work. Much of her time in the mental health field has been spent working with youth providing trauma-informed therapy and with adults diagnosed with serious mental illnesses. Ms. Sims is experienced in providing individual and group therapy services for children, families and adults.
Ms. Sims is trained in providing services around various conditions such as trauma, school-based concerns, impulse control, anxiety, depression, social/relationship struggles and child and family welfare. She comes from a holistic, wellness framework with a relational/cultural approach. Ms. Sims’ work has focused heavily on healing from traumas, coping with life’s hardships, skill building, and their impacts on overall wellness.
