Stephen Marshall is a Rockford native. Stephen began working with local youth in 2014 and has since graduated from NIU with a bachelor’s in sociology and a double minor in African American studies and Criminal justice. After completing his undergraduate studies, Stephen applied and was accepted into NIU counseling for the higher education program; in addition to gaining his master’s degree in higher education, Stephen also completed coursework and received his certificate in Trauma-informed counseling. Stephen began his school counseling career in 2021 and continues to work as a school counselor. Stephen specializes in addressing issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns with a holistic approach and evidence-based practices. Stephen aims to empower individuals to cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion. His mission is to facilitate meaningful change and promote holistic well-being within the community by fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust, respect, and authenticity.
