Erin Bogdonas earned her Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Eastern Washington University in 2018, then gained her National Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification in 2019. Mrs.Bogdonas continued her education at Aurora University to earn a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus on individual counseling.
Erin is currently working on gaining her full licensure to serve and support the communities in Illinois, both in person and through telehealth. She has received six years of group and individual recreation therapy, spanning from 2016 to 2022, at SwedishAmerican Hospital, now known as UWHealth. Then Erin was welcomed as an intern with Perryville Counseling Group from January 2023 to April 2024, then left to support rural communities in the WI areas.
Erin has gained experience in helping individuals with various struggles through her work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, both individually and in groups.
Erin has received further education to support children and adolescents by becoming more in tune with play-based therapies and recreation therapy interventions. Whether the client needs more time to open up with slow introductions using games and toys, or wants more structured education, there is always something Erin can do to help the client at any point in their treatment.
Erin enjoys utilizing the same interventions in her spare time as she does with her clients. As well as learning new skills to help further herself and her clients when she sees a good fit in skills. Erin also enjoys spending time with her husband, child, dog (Bailey), and cat (Millie). Being able to spend time outdoors, gardening, baking, reading, and so much more. Erin strives to support and serve children, adolescents, and adults in Rockford by promoting positive mental health skills and fostering a sense of well-being.
