Maria Green, is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Illinois. Maria obtained her Bachelor
of Science in Social Work in 2009 from the University of Illinois- Springfield and her Master of
Social Work in Community Health and Urban Development at Dominican University Illinois
in 2017.
Maria has been working in the field since 2009 in various settings, she began as an ISACorp member with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission; following, she served as a Career and College
Counselor in underserved communities with first generation college students. She was then awarded the opportunity to assist in Youth Guidance as a Counselor with the Working on Womanhood (WOW) organization; Maria has worked with Social-Emotional Learning Groups for adolescents in high schools who were at-risk. Mrs. Green’s role counseling youth who were dealing with depression, anxiety, low-self esteem, self-harming, and suicidal ideation provided her with great experience to help adolescents and young adult understand the importance of their mental health. As a Therapist at Bridges she provided services to new day victims of Domestic Violence, family counseling, couples counseling, and individual counseling services.
Maria has experience working with children and adolescents ranging from ages 10-17 years old and young adults ages 18-25 suffering from depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideations, and life transitions. She also has experience working with adults, couples and families. Maria’s goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where client(s) have a safe space to vent, reflect, and process current and past traumas; Maria challenges, encourages, motivates and celebrates clients by using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy during sessions; Maria tailors her approach based on the client’s need and has a strong hope that her clients will leave the session feeling motivated and empowered.
